Vinyl Notes began as the music industry blog for Know More Media; an online publisher of business news and information. I started out as the green associate editor, and when a year later my friend and colleague told me that the network was going to create a music blog, I convinced him forthwith that I was the only person to consider for the job. I had already been covering music on my Newsvine column, and I could easily integrate Vinyl Notes into my daily schedule.
Vinyl Notes launched in February 2008 and it has since, become my baby. Five months later, Know More Media discontinued operations, laying off all of its writers and internal staff. It was a very sad day indeed…However, in addition to many great experiences (working for Know More Media was my dream “fresh out of college” job!), new and sharpened skills, colleagues who are now friends, when I left Know More Media, I was gifted this blog.
VinylNotes is still in transition and this is my first foray at self hosting, but it is definitely a great gift for a fledgling writer such as myself. As I learn more about website design and hone my technical skills, Vinyl Notes will undergo an evolution. I’m excited to embark on this project independently and enter a new era of my professional writing career.
You’re probably still wondering who the heck I am right? My name is Kimberlee Morrison. I’m a freelance writer, citizen journalist, professional blogger, social bookmarker, and online publishing consultant. I’m also a music nerd, a pop culture enthusiast, and a culture critic. Read my author profile for more of my resume.
In addition to writing this blog, I’m also the author of ShePlaysMusic, on the b5media music chanel, the pop culture/music writer for Convicted Artists Magazine (official launch TBA), and my Newsvine column as well.
